During the covid hoax I was staying in Salt Lake City for several months. I figured that I would check into getting my cataracts removed while I was surrounded by large medical offices. I called a very famous clinic that I heard advertised on the radio everyday. I made an appointment and went in for initial screening. I made an appointment for the surgery and was told that they would send a driver as well as take me home after. Sounded good so I fell for it. On the day of the appointment, the driver never showed so I called and they apologized for being too stupid to be considered human and said they would send the driver immediately. I waited a couple hours and finally decided that the driver had overdosed on stupidity and set about doing something else. Then a car honked in the driveway so I went out to see who it was. It was an idiot pretending to be human and he said he was there to take me to my surgery. I got in the car and he said that I would have to wear a mask. I knew that a mask was just a scare tactic to get people to worship Satan and told him that a virus could get through a cloth mask as easily as a mosquito could get through a chain link fence. He insisted that it was his orders. So I told him that if the doctors were that stupid they had no business making decisions about my health. He left to go lie to someone else.
One day I decided to go back home to Duchesne County. I made an appointment with Dr. Shane Powell who works out of the Uinta Basin Medical Center. I went in for an initial checkup. He was incredibly arrogant and rushing me to decide which was better, this or that. I told him to slow down as my eyes needed time to adjust as he had put some crap in my eyes. During the examination the doctor and his assistant were laughing about some local doctor that had accused him of being incompetent. I didn’t think too much about it at the time, although I found it odd that they would be laughing about such a thing. He finished his examination and I left, making an appointment for the surgery.
On the day of the surgery I went to the Hospital in Roosevelt to get the first eye repaired. The nurse ordered me to get undressed and put my clothes in a shelf. I told her that I was here for my eyes. She gave me the look that Lucifer gave God upon getting kicked out of heaven, so I complied. After the surgery was complete I went home. I had been told to wait only a week before getting the other eye done. I asked if we shouldn’t wait and see how it went first so that I only had one bad eye at a time. He insisted that it was mandatory to get both eyes done as close to the same time as possible. He said that I would not be able to see with my left eye in the meantime, but that after both eyes healed, I would get some glasses to make my eyes 20/20 again. I fell for his lies and went in for the second surgery. He told me to wait 2 or 3 weeks and then come in to get examined for glasses. I complied.
When I went in to see what glasses I would need, he was again very impatient and rushed me to make a choice of which was better, this or that. Then he said the glasses would come in a few weeks and I would finally be able to see. He lied.
When I went in to get my glasses, I was handed a glasses case by an assistant and did not even see the doctor. I put the glasses on as I left and realized that they were of no benefit. I should have went back in and made a scene in order to make others aware that he was a fraud. But I figured I better not make a quick decision and went home to decide what to do. I decided to let my eyes heal for sure and then discover what I was dealing with.
I realized that I could see with my right eye good enough to drive. My left eye had a black hole in the middle where I could see nothing. I could see around the edges of the black hole, but not clearly. Aside from being out of focus, a rectangle mirror appeared to be completely misaligned such that a square looked jiggy jaggy, real bad.
Time went by and I was busy with other things. Finally, I decided to look for an attorney. Each attorney I called told me of a 2 year statute of limitations and that litigation could take up to 5 years. The first three doctors I called, declined to take the case. Their reasons for refusing to help ranged from they would never under any circumstances attempt to have a doctor’s license removed as financial suit compensation was paid by an insurance company and had no negative affect on the doctor, to Utah has a limit of a mere $400,000 in such cases and they only get half and it isn’t worth their time to pursue.
I asked several random people if they would trade their eyesight for $20 million in cash and not a single one would, so Utah is protecting doctors from having any negative consequences due to their incompetence.
I made an appointment with Scott H. Kowallis, OD in Roosevelt. His nurses did several tests including scans and ultrasound. He pulled up the images of the inside of my eyes as he spoke to me. He said that he was sorry that my sight in my left eye had been destroyed. He said that I was one of many. He stated that he had filing cabinets full of similar cases from Shane Powell over the years. He told me of one man that totally lost all sight in both eye and can not even see light as a result of Shane Powell’s incompetence. He stated that he was legally unable to share medical information that was protected by hippa laws, but that he had personally met with the administration of the Uinta Basin Medical Center to discuss the incompetence of Shane Powell. He further stated that Shane Powell had an automobile accident recently that gave him brain injuries and he has a bad case of the shakes as a result and is still practicing. Shane Powell is blinding innocent people on a daily basis.
So far, I have not found an attorney or prosecutor that is willing to protect the public from a serial blinder.
People have an expectation that there are laws and people keeping them safe from being butchered. Clearly, in Utah, this is not the case.
